Your advice on reading Mosel Fine Wines is an excellent one, I’ve been a subscriber for the last two years. MFW speaks highly of 2019 Clemens Busch. I’ll write to the estates you mention and request a price list. Is there a web shop you can recommend that offers a good selection of wines from several of these estates at competitive prices? In the meantime I’ll continue to read through your tasting notes. I can mention that my other favorite region for Riesling is the Nahe. Prosit!

I love Mosel Riesling with the Mosel elegant style and finesse of crisp acidity and slate-minerality that develops into tones of petroleum. Could you recommend some trocken Riesling that is über-Mosel in the price range €10-€30? I’ve been at a loss because of the recent hot summers making the wines too ostentatious and low on acidity. What’s your opinion on the 2020 growing season, anything to look forward to? Thanks in advance!

    2/4/2017 12:08:00 PM - Ich habe gerade bei den Dönnhoff Tonschiefer 2015 TN festgestellt, dass Sie auch in Hamburg leben und wollte Hallo zu einem Rieslingfreund sagen. Schön hier auf CT Gleichgesinnte zu treffen - und Riesling ist der einzige Weißwein den ich mit Begeisterung trinke, ich komme dazu aus Wiesbaden. Bei Rotweinen bin ich nach langen Jahren mit Pauillac und St. Julien auf der Suche nach Ergänzung gewesen. Auf diese Weise habe ich Barbaresco und Barolo entdeckt, eine Erleuchtung, und auch Brunello und Chianti wieder entdeckt; die Sangiovese hatte ich einfach unterschätzt. Piemont hat mich Burgund besser verstehen lassen. Deutsche Spätburgunder sind momentan meine Entdeckung, beeindruckend, was sich dort getan hat. Beste Grüße, Paui

La bebo de vez en cuando sobretodo en la variedad Trocken y también su hija la Albariño pero es complicado que me emocione. Lo repito, la culpa es totalmente mía. Lo siento. Respecto a Rioja con más de cincuenta años, o son vinagre o unos vinos deliciosos. Quiero decir que estarán más que listos. Tengo previsto abrir una de Franco-españolas del 64 para dentro de unos días. Ya te diré como resulta. Por ultimo respecto a mis siete magníficos, no considero que sean las mejores bodegas y tampoco están las más famosas o mediáticas pero sí las que a través de los años me han dado más satisfacciones y momentos de placer.
