Just shipped today, so may be suffering from bottle shock. Unscrewed and poured. Some significant carbonation on opening. On the nose shows a touch of vanilla and a nuttiness, bordering on coconut, with slight traces of floral notes. Once in mouth, the wine immediately screams cashew, a dry rich textural nut. Also apparent is some mild lime notes, but the nut flavors dominate anything else. Finishes with a slight sweet edge, before a long lingering cashew finish. I will revisit and revise note if it shows anything new over the next day, but right now this is unlike any CA chardonnay I can think of: not gobs of fruit and grape flavors, not tons of oak, not alot of floral notes, but instead a well, nuttiness.
Jena: Cinnamon, Grapefruit, and deep port like prune fruit flavors.
Me: Definitely shows significant oak, catching some spiciness and cinnamon, before ample acidity. Dark fruit mildly lingering; everything is really well integrated. This wine is right in its drinking window and I only wish I had more.
