Simple? Yes. But a very nice light Burgundy for 16 bucks. The fruit is very forward, but if you pay attention, there is a little spice/oak just at the beginning of the admittedly short finish. Not a wine to wow Burgundy lovers, but if you like the California pinot noirs for how fruity they can be, you'll love this. I'll probably pick up a few more for nights when I'd really like a white wine, but don't feel like finding out which white I'd really like to drink. This from a bottle I just opened and poured. No idea what a couple hours of decanting will do for/to it. Maybe I'll let you know in a couple hours...:)

Pleasant nose, though I couldn't tell what it was I was smelling. Almost seemed like flowers more than fruit. Not very complex and very light, a very quick but pleasant finish. A good Burgundy for 15 bucks. Something nice to let someone drink who likes whites like 12 dollar Rieslings, or who doesn't drink real good Burgundies on a regular basis.

Much better after I left it out for a couple hours. The currant is not so overwhelming, and a mix of elderberry and cherry have developed. Now nicely integrated, the taste is still a mixture of dark fruit. A very silky mouthfeel to this, still, and the vanilla is no longer as dominant in the finish. Still a great wine. I'd say that if you have an open bottle, keep it for at least two more years, or decant it for a while before serving.
