Real name: Roberta Rinaldi
Locale: Los Angeles, USA
Favorite region: Anywhere in the Old World
Dream wine: Comte Lafon Montrachet, Giuseppe Rinaldi Barola Brunate Le Coste
I was smitten by wine at 16 with my first taste: a 1966 Comte Lafon Montrachet. After having taken many wine classes, I applied to work at Wally's Wines and have been working there part-time for 11 years. In 2010, I began writing for Examiner.com as their Beverly Hills Wine Examiner, and am starting a website called Bare Naked Grapes, about natural wines and their makers. In addition, I teach wine tasting and food and wine pairing seminars. Cheers!
NV Germano Ettore Rosanna Rosé Brut

Named for the winemaker's mother, this is a gorgeous sparkling nebbiolo. Bone dry, with great finesse. It is both well-structured and delicate. Aromas of juicy, fresh raspberry and strawberry, roses, slight bread dough and lemon verbena persist on the palate. Brilliant acidity and lively bubbles wake up the taste buds and make you long for more.
Rosanna is hand picked from young vines in the Barolo vineyards of Cerreta, Pra Po, Padrone and Lazzarito. Short skin contact creates an exquisite pale pink wine that is almost painfully beautiful.
Fermentation takes place 80% in stainless steel and 20% in used barriques. It is bottled for the second fermentation in March following the vintage, and spends approximately sixteen months on lees before disgorgement.

2012 Cold Heaven Pinot Noir Never Tell Sta. Rita Hills
4/26/2015 - RRinaldi Does not like this wine:
15.5% pinot noirs just shouldn't be made--end of story. If you can't get ripeness without these levels, don't make wine; make grape jam instead.

2008 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau

Color: Deep garnet, clear at the rim. Nose: dark, brooding, moody, bacon, black licorice, dark berry and cherry. Palate: Juicy, bright cherry, meaty, green tobacco, brambly, earthy, green bell pepper. Well-balanced, good acidity. Satisfying. Somewhat green tannins that will integrate with age, although enjoyable now with decanting and the right food. Medium plus finish. Delicious with bacon-wrapped shrimp.
