2021 Cooper and Thief Cellarmasters Pinot Noir Aged in Brandy Barrels

Clear, medium ruby – black cherry fruit leather, spice, strawberry, tobacco, vanilla; off dry, medium acid, medium tannins, 15.5% ABV, medium body, medium+ intensity, medium+ finish. It didn't come across as sweet as I thought it would, and the acid balanced it well. It's like a light port.

2021 Meiomi Pinot Noir

Clear, deep ruby - nose of black cherry, dark spices, tar. Off dry, medium-acid, low tannins, 13.5% ABV, medium body, medium+ intensity, medium finish. Threw out the bottle. It tasted like cherry vanilla syrup that might be improved with club soda.

2019 Merry Edwards Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

Clear, medium ruby – black plum, black cherry, earth, spice, clove, caramel, grass, strawberry, licorice. Dry, medium acid, medium tannins, 14.5% ABV, medium body, medium+ intensity, medium+ finish. Gorgeous and complex. I've had Merry Edwards sauvignon blancs but never her pinot noirs before. This is the second vintage of which winemaker Heidi von der Mehden was in full charge (she worked alongside Merry Edwards since 2015). Nice to know the wine is in great hands.
