  • 2008 Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild

Quite elegant and round perfumes in the nose, cherries, leather, mints, green peppers, lavenders, roses, violets, and smoked wood; chunky and juicy but not particularly complex and lacking some elegancy on the palate, berries, cherries, citrus fruits, licorice, and some wet sandalwood; quite long finish, with noticeable ripe tannins; overall, 92-93 points at this stage; still needed a few more years to evolve further.

  • NV Courvoisier Cognac XO

This should be the new Courvoisier XO expression, without "Imperial"; pretty much the same in the nose, with raisins, nuts, tangerines, and some yellow flowers; also creamy and juicy on the palate, but perhaps a bit less complex, with chocolate, honey, ripe grapefruits, prunes, and soft wood spices; the finish seemed to be longer yet showing slight bitterness and dryness in the aftertaste; overall, 90-91 points.

  • 2009 Les Pagodes de Cos

Caramel, cherries, mints, lavenders, smoked wood, and some tangerines in the rich and perfumed nose; acidic, concentrated, tannic, and tight on the palate, with berries, cherries, coffee beans, vanilla, tannins, and wood spices; long finish; overall, 92-93 points at this stage; a solid Cos 2nd wine; still quite young and probably in its sleep at the moment; will try the next bottle to follow its evolution in 2-3 years.
