  • 2012 Vale da Capucha Torres Vedras Fossil Tinto

Vale da Capucha 2012 Vinha Teimosa Tinto, 14 % alcohol.
    Bottle in perfect shape.
    85 % Touriga Nacional and 15 % Tinta Roriz.

    Young, dark and dense colour.
Lots of herbs and blueberries on the nose, and some green notes and menthe. Liquorice appears after a while.
Lovely chewy tannins and good acidity. This full bodied wine offers herbs, liquorice and dark fruit. Nice minerality and good balance. Quite long finish.

A nice effort !! I really like this wine!
If served blind I think I might end up in Bordeaux and probably St Estephe.
    93 - 94p

  • 2014 Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia Rioja Macan Clásico

    Bottle in perfect shape.
    Dark and dense color.
Really good on the nose! The wine offers a very nice bouquet of lavendel, blueberries, violett, dark chocolate and liquorice.
Nice on the palate as well. Velvety texture. Medium to full body, good grip and good balance between the young fruit, the acidity and the quite high alcohol (14,5%). Dark fruit, liquorice, black cherry, mineral and herbs.
Long finish, but there is a bit to much alcohol showing at the moment.
I'll let my other bottles rest for about 4 - 6 years. Would be fun to try this wine in 2034!
    Nice effort! 92 p + ... and I bet this wine will reach higher score 2022 - 2024.

  • 2015 G.D. Vajra Barbera d'Alba Superiore

    Bottle in perfect shape.
    Dark and quite dense colour.
Quite warm on the nose. Dark plum, blackberries, violets, chocolate and a hint of tobacco.
On the palate the wine offers warm, rich and ripe fruit of dark plum, blackberries, herbs and a hint of chocolate. Good firm tannins, nice acidity, medium to full body.
The high alcohol of 15 % is integrated well, so good balance.
    91 p +
Even better the day after! :)
I'll wait a few years with my other bottles (5 - 8 y) ... and drink my 2006 and 2008 instead the following year.

5/2/2015 5:20:00 AM - Hello Stefan, I love the wines of Emidio Pepe, but over the years I've even had some nasty surprise. The wines of Pepe are "pureblood", great "natural" and very traditional wine (they still pressing the grapes with their feet! I assure you). But are unpredictable wines and need a lot of patience and attention. Wines to drink in the tranquility of your own home with a few friends wine lovers. Impractical for a wine bar. Ciao from Italy!

4/14/2013 4:49:00 AM - Hi there, Well because have three Ch.Margaux 05 bottles I afraid any Puy 05 is going to be a target. I prefer wine quite mature so my first bottle will be on 2025 Cheers!
