Reminds me of an inexpensive burgundy. Excuse me if I am wrong, but didn't the last vintage have much more blackberry fruit and depth? Sour cherry/cranberry on palate, sharp acidity and the distinctive earthy funk/shroom thing on the nose after 20 minutes of the last Barbara d'asti I had (Pio Cesare 2010). Decent finish, but nothing to write home about. Good for $9.99 at Costco, but seems a little inconsistent vintage wise.

Definitive dust develops on nose with briar/green pepper from the beginning. Right between red and dark berry fruit with good acidity that calls for food, and a green stemminess that is pleasant. Medium finish of mostly red fruit. Somewhat underwhelming, but nice for $13.99 at Costco.

Black berry and cherry syrup, baking chocolate, cooked herbs, cinders, a little animale, but clean. Amazing density and mouthfeel. Great QPR at $30.
