  • 2001 Château Lanessan

Everything is about reasonable expectation! not so much diluted than 00 vintage I have tried a year ago. As with my prior experience it has a slower/thiner/sour start and started to stabilize after around 40 mins to yield a firmer/thicker mouthfeel. Overall, a good value bdx claret at this price tag alongside Ch. Beamount and maucaillou?!

  • 1998 Château Poujeaux

First of all I need to praise Poujeaux's ability to maintain cork across vintages in mint condition (85, 98 both without any osmosis!). Well balanced, very easy and comfortable to enjoy upon opening. Not partricularlly rich in favor but crystal clean favor in mouth, light red in color showing corresponding age, mainly red fruit, bordeaux blend bouquet, medium body leaning to a medium finish, but the palate is a bit hallow. Everything is right and could be 91 pts if it is more concentrated.

  • 1995 Château Rauzan-Gassies

Classic margaux nose, 15 mins breathing, firm structure/garnet color, still with solid tannin lingering in the mouth. better to sit for 30 mins to start with, bouquet evloving decently after the first hour, palate dark fruit, plum, slightly acidic medium to longer finish and the balance is okay. No regret @ 32 pounds damage the bottle could still running strong for at least 5 years IMHO.
