Pale lemon in the glass. Developing, med + intensity on the nose, aromas of lemon curd, quince, yellow apple, pear, honey, some light floral element/ chamomile, vanilla custard, toast, hazelnut, wet stones. In the mouth, the wine is dry, med body, med + acid, med alcohol, med + palate intensity, long finish. Overall, very good -> outstanding with some more time (IMO), can drink now or hold for 5+yrs. This reminds me of Cameron's Wadsworth chardonnay, but less costly- the structure/acid is so interwoven with the fruit aspects, deft and seamless.
Pours a deep purple in the glass. Developing, med intensity aromas of salted plum, cooked plum, smoke, hoisin, game, brambles, cherry, vanilla, loamy earth. In the mouth, the wine is full bodied, med acid, med tannin, high alcohol, moderat palate intensity, and a short finish. Overall, good, drink now. Opinion, not the biggest fan, even for $25- I feel like there is some great CdR that is syrah dominant that holds a better value at less cost. The wine is heavy- almost syrupy in the mouth without a lot of depth or nuance.

1/12/2024 2:47:00 PM - Thank you for your comment on my Rosty note. Noting your comment referred to green and your Vancouver location and comment about more like it, I did review that referenced Sea of Green, a Canadian Stoner Rock band - Envinate Ribeira Sacra Lousas Parcela Doad.
At any rate, long live Bob Rock et al and Canada's over-sized contribution to rock.
Good drinking!
11/11/2023 8:11:00 AM - Thank you HandmadeHomemade for your recommendation on the 2019 Clos du Val Cab. I have a couple of other bottles so I will continue to hold and report back in a few years. Cheers.
5/19/2022 10:30:00 AM - Thanks for your comment and sorry for the late reply! Yes, this definitely should have had some decanting time. It got less funky with time but still had quite unpleasant aromas still after a couple of hours. Would like to try again and then decanted properly!
