Awesome, just awesome. This has entered what will be a long window of fantastic drinking. Fruit, acidity, and tannins in perfect harmony. Bottle #8220.

This is in a great place. Classic wild Sagrantino profile on the nose, with a strawberry sweetness to it. The palate is impeccably balanced; the acid deficit I noted more than 7 years ago nonexistent. Everything one could want from a young-vines Sagrantino. I’ll enjoy my remaining bottles over the next five years, when I imagine this will be at its best. Bottle #6596.

It’s been a long time since I’ve opened a bottle of Quintarelli red, but the opportunity to do so on a New York restaurant list for $145 was too good to pass up. It may be 12 years old, but it drinks like it went in the bottle yesterday, even after an hour-long decant. Purple and black fruits, a heavy dose of graphite, and vanilla extract all are prominent. The ripeness is clear, but at the same time, a strong vein of acidity keeps the wine feeling far lighter than it otherwise would. Recommended, but give it more air than I did.

9/26/2016 5:27:00 PM - Hi, Kevin
I'm preparing for my upcoming 3-month visit (2nd one this year), and I'm in the process of finalizing all of my visits, etc. I notice that you have some Az. Agr. La Torre, a name I'm not really familiar with. Unless your bottles were gifted to you, I'm assuming you know something about the producer. I'm always happen to learn, and I'll have time to visit (should have ~ 3 weeks in the area), but there's a (too proud? slimy egoist?) part of me that says "if I don't know who they are by now, it can't matter, right?" Please advise, if you can take a moment, Tim winestrategies at g mail
ciao

If I wasn't going to Italy for all of April, I'd have flown out for it. Big fan of Dressner's work, and good cause, too
