Loved this wine. A nice surprise as I was worried it was fading. Stewed prunes with a distinct and seductive smokiness. This flavour profile may not be to everyone's taste but I couldn't stop reaching for my glass which interfered with my enjoyment of my beef filet.

An inexpensive selection from my 2003 Futures purchase this wine is right in the prime drinking zone for me. The old leather and forest floor on the nose are a bit overpowering at first but a decant and an hour took the pungent away and left a rich round wine with some good underlying interest that fits the bill of "bon merde". I love the evolution of these wines from the youthful "currant, berry, toasted oak and milk chocolate" described by Wine Spectator in 2006 to this earthy delight.

I liked this atypical chardonnay. More Burgundian than California it was fresh with nice pear and apple notes. A pleasant surpise at the price point and part of my first case buy from Naked Wines.
