Much, much better than previous bottle...which must have been really off. This wine had good fruit and structure. More Burgundian than most American Pinots.

Not crazy about this wine. When opened, it had nothing....very little fruit, no acid or tannin. Several hours later still not showing anything. I didn't care for the 2018 either. Surprising, considering who's involved and that I'm a Burgundy nut.

Maybe this wine could use another couple of years, but boy was it singing tonight. Way beyond a village classification with excellent fruit and depth. Some lemon and other tropical notes with a touch of salinity. Really very good. Decanting for a couple of hours is recommended.

6/3/2022 4:54:00 PM - Thinks for the additional data point Moonie, on the 2018 Rhys Bearwollow Vineyard Pinot. Appreciate it. Both bottles I have opened are definitely flawed, not just a wine that I stylistically don't appreciate. After having a bunch of their Alesia wines from the same vintage and vineyards that were also flawed, I think I've hit the wall with Rhys, as I've had other bad bottles, and at this point I've had more flawed bottles from Rhys than I've had from all other wineries combined in the past few years.
12/24/2020 2:29:00 PM - Hi Mark. My wife and I know May very well, for more than 25 years. We've enjoyed visits to the Chateau and have had dinner with her frequently in Bordeaux after she sold P-L. We've been in touch with her just recently and she seems to be doing very well. Maybe we could get together after the virus abates and share some of the older P-L's I have in my cellar. I'm glad to share some personal information if you don't have a problem with that. My email is posmcg@gmail.com. Best, Marc
12/24/2020 1:53:00 PM - Hey Moonie.....enjoyed reading all your PL notes! A good friend of mine's aunt used to own it. She (Lady May) sold about 15 years ago, moved to South Africa and started Glenelly, there. She's about 95 now and still going strong. Poured a lot of old bottles for us in '19 during a visit there. Fantastic wines! Have a great Christmas....Mark
6/11/2020 6:39:00 PM - We should definitely pop some bottles. I have been quarantining in Steamboat Springs since early May but return to south FL in July. We can share a nice old burgundy or 3. I wish I knew how to send a private message on this app. O well.
7/26/2014 12:21:00 PM - Hi Moonie,
Appreciate our comment on my notes. Browsed through your cellar. Very nice selection, congrats!
Some of the bottles you have stored may need drinking.
I hope you can keep up with the development of the wines in your cellar. Keeping up with what I have cellared is certainly one of my problems. I have plenty of buddies who like to drink wine, but not so many who can really appreciate a fine wine...
