Unfortunately this wine remains painfully tannic. after a decant, it was undrinkable. left on counter for a week and tasted it every day for a week until oxidation took over. I cannot rate this wine nor drink it.
dark garnet, red fruits, cassis and smoky cedar. powerful but a little foursquare, long and expansive on the palate and not a trace of vegetal plaguing the 2000 vintage. It seems to have the acidity and tannin to remain at this level for another 5-10 years. I would characterize this a solid but uninteresting 2001 Medoc. I'd be curious to see how a head to head comparison of Tour St. Bonnet and SM would go, but alas no more TSB
