This is an excellent wine. Beautiful translucent green-gold color with honeysuckle, white flowers and orchard fruits on the nose and palate. The wine is medium bodied and very balanced with the fruit, alcohol and acidity all being in sync. At 12.5% ABV, this is not a big, over the top fruit dominated Chassagne. Very good wine making here and a great representation of this fine 1er Cru vineyard.

This was my second bottle. The first I drank about 2 years ago (91 pts) and found to be showing to much orchard fruits compared to the more mineral Puligny core which I have experienced in the past with this wine. At that time, it definitely was out of balance and showed the warmer vintage characteristics of 2015, which I did not love. So I decided to wait a few more years to try my second bottle. It was this botte that I drank on this occasion. Unfortunately, the wine was slightly premoxed (flawed) showing an advanced golden color and a funky nose. Nevertheless, I decided to drink the wine over 2 hours and it did improve with its mineral core eventually overcoming the slight premox flavors. However, it never showed it's true potential. Thus, for those of you who have the 2015 vintage in your cellar, I would definitely open a bottle to see how the wine is progressing. My guess is that this is not a long lived vintage for this wine.

I agree with the other recent reviews. The wine was clean and fresh and showed some tropical fruit elements. Very enjoyable but not particularly memorable. However, it is definitely one of the better California Sauvignon Blancs that I have had. Good QPR at around the $30 that I paid for it.

3/13/2021 5:49:00 PM - Hi Mark, Got your note and message on my board and would love to meet up with other wine lovers in the area - hopefully soon assuming things stay on track with the vaccine. My cellar has a mostly California bent with a few Bordeaux and Italian wines scattered in but have been expanding into Burgundy recently. In any case I enjoy learning about all styles. How do you PM on this site - can do almost everything else but don't see an option.
