This wine reminds me of the kind of Bordeaux you could get for $20 in Michigan in the 90s or at a bistro at the low end of the wine in list in St. Emilion when I visited in 2002)(?). Thin but well made and meant to go with food, also less funky than the cheap juice 15 years ago. Good for $8, but I prefer the more modern 2011 Ronan by Clinet for $10 at Costco (unfortunately sold out now). On the other hand, I like lower alcohol wines, so the 12.5 % alcohol is great.

Wife with infinitely better palate thought this was good California wine. I agree, tastes more like Caymus light than mini Clinet despite being 100% merlot - no Bordeaux funk, classic flavors, restrained but present tannins. Agree with reviews by MOTZ. Very good deal at Costco for $10, i. e. a step up from Kirkland Bordeaux. California/Washington can't make a wine that comes close for <$20, drink with grilled lamb chops or steak frites.

A Burgundy for California Pinot drinkers. Fat, lots of ripe sweet red fruit and alcohol with some Burg background notes. Good with Thanksgiving. But I remember last year for Thanksgiving we drank 2010 Pavelot SLB, which was much tighter, leaner and cheaper. Enjoyed that more.
