Locale: Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain
Favorite region: Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Priorat, Mendoza, Rias Baixas, Cote du Beaune, Alsace.
Dream wine: A beautifully crafted, aged Rioja Gran Reserva. At this stage I haven't tried enough to know specifically what I want, only that I adore the style. So long as I can share it with good company and perhaps roasted Lamb, I won't be too picky.
My name is Fintan, owner of WineCuentista and eternal student of wine. I am based in Barcelona, Spain and work in a small wine shop organising wine tastings of contemporary Spanish wine for expats, local businesses and tourists. I am using Cellar Tracker to document my analytical tasting notes for reference and also to meet like-minded wine drinkers along the way. My notes are laid out thus as I am studying with the WSET and follow their lexicon analysing wine, something I feel covers all accounts of the wine and a style I am very comfortable with. I finish every tasting note with a value proposition of quality vs money, something I feel is often overlooked although in Spain this tends to be in the positive!. NV Quinta do Noval Porto 20 Year Old Tawny

The wine is a pale tawny colour.
The wine has a pronounced intensity of dried strawberries, cherries and plums, caramel, brown sugar, almonds, leather and toffee. The wine is fully developed.
On the palate the wine is sweet with high acidity, high alcohol, full body, medium ripe tannins, a pronounced intensity and a long finish. Really full, unctuous and full of flavours.
This is an outstanding quality 20 year old Tawny Port.
