2021 Chapelle St. Theodoric Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Guigasse

Consumed two days after a bottle of ‘21 Chapelle St. Theodoric Le Grand Pin. The La Guigasse is much more structured with darker fruit. Really strong material here, but requiring considerably more time in the cellar than Le Grand Pin (which can be enjoyed now).

PnP. 100% grenache from old vines in the Pignan lieu dit. Pretty, , pure, clean nose, slightly peppery, good fruit. Fairly soft on the palate, smooth, with tannins providing a little structure without being grippy. For a young wine, quite approachable and enjoyable right now, with enough structure to age and improve for maybe 5-10 years.

Stunning showing, with some structure still in reserve. I think this will age another 15 years or so, and eventually rival the ‘88, ‘89, and ‘90.
