Smells like an old bordeaux at first with leather and dried fruit aromas. As it opens the syrah comes out, and shows more primary dark fruits, pepper, blackberry, a little V.A. Palate is dense and stil full. Blazing acidity keeps this wine taught and brings out a serious citrus note that cuts the ripeness. Pretty complex stuff as it turns from tertiary to primary to red fruits to citrus and almost stone fruits at the same time. Cool wine.

This wine was a lot better than I had expected. I didnt pick it apart, as I opened it casually with friends. Not dead but actually it is the PERFECT time to open this wine if you have a bottle. Good nose with some secondary fruit going on. A soft wine with a pleasant finish that had a medium length. A nice wine.

Drank this in my dining room during a 4 course meal. Paired with striped bass shashimi with arugula and shaved raw asparagus with a lemon/olive oil dressing. The nose, definitely showing its age, and its aged very gracefully. Lemony citrus, minerals, almost a bit grassy, with some honey and dark funky notes from the age. The palate was Alive. Crispy firm acid, with a nice spread from front to back and a finish that had no problems hanging on for a few extra seconds. I love Dauvissat, I wish I had a few more of these. It's such a nice treat to drink one every once in a while. If only it was summer and I was on the beach with some oysters. Then we'd be talking!
