I brought this wine to a party and it was well received. It had a smooth texture and exhibited an earthy flavor. I would recommend drinking before the end of 2009.

13 years old and still kicking! I don't know how much longer I would wait on this one, but to say its bite was full of youth is definitely an understatement. Not too much complexity here - just a solid red (proprietary formula not delineated on the bottle label, though a large percentage must be cab, with maybe a touch of petit verdot and/or cab franc). I suspect the Mount Veeder will never lose its fruit-forward tannic heat, though perhaps it just needs a few more years in the cellar. Paired nicely with lobster gazpacho, and wild mushroom/squid risotto.

Labor Day Weekend Brunch at Essex (Essex Restaurant (New York, NY)): Generously provided gratis by the restaurant, none of us had any knowledge about this wine. For me, this was standard no frills cab. Nothing enticing or edgy, just straight-forward fruit with a decent finish. The one oustanding quality was its deep purple hue - a beautiful shade. Perhaps I am not familiar enough with Washington state terroir to coment fairly on this one. I believe Patrick and Victor shared these sentiments though it was Christina's wine of the day.
