Wine amateur, with rather classic tastes (more terroir/tradition than technique), not a great nose or palate but an amateur nevertheless. Will try to note wine fairly (if a good wine is worthy of 80-84 points, this is the score range it will get from me, promising wines or bottles past 'drink by' date might get 1-2 more points).

Quick note: Nice golden colour, oxidized nose (not a fault here!), typically reminiscent of a Sauternes but without the sugar, still very fresh but without the green citrus notes found when very young. Full-flavoured, still lively but the youthful grip has loosened up. The élevage and the acidity are fully integrated. Not very complex but a joy to drink, like a slightly oxidized and dry Sauternes. Still has some years left; will not improve but will mellow out. Can still handle full-flavoured fare like fish couscous.

2008 Château Reynon Blanc

Poured directly after opening. Gooseberry notes with hint of white grapefruit on the nose, along with 'feline cologne'. Goosebery and white grapefruit the palate. Mature, decent acidity, drinking very well. Probably at peak, may last another year or two. Very good.

2006 Domaine de l'Ecu Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Expression de Granite

First bottle from this producer and first serious muscadet. Poured directly after opening. Light yellow colour, slight golden hue. Apple on the nose and apple on the palate. Much rounder and supple than what I was expecting (a sharp, almost steely wine). Good balance (initially served a bit warm). Drunk with oysters and did not provide the match I had in mind (not the wine's fault). Would have passed for a Chardonnay from a cold climate (vicinity of Chablis, for example). Maybe a bottle that matured faster than expected, to be drunk by end of 2014 judging from this bottle. Definitely not what the word muscadet brings to mind. Very good.
