Drank my last bottle of this wine and it did not disappoint. Color started to fade with hints of dried cherries, baking spices with a slight medicinal edge. Nicely balanced and enjoyed this with Duck breast and leg in a cherry sauce. Perfect match. If you like your Pinots with some age, I'd give this even a few more years to play out.
This wine is holding up nicely. Dried apricot, some stone fruit, honey with some spice. Balanced and not oily or cloying. Had a 2005 D'Arche Sauternes as well and this Gewurz had more nose and was better balanced.
Friends brought this over for dinner and agree with the other tasting notes. This wine has yet to shed its youth and turn the corner into adulthood. Paired well with a paella with some spicy venison sausage, boerewors sausage, salmon, and shellfish. Not a traditional paella but the wine seemed to like it.
