  • 2014 Apsara Cellars Sauvignon Blanc Rivers Reach

My 2nd bottle of this in the last month. Yellow in the glass, with a "cool" nose that hints of the sea, as well as displaying some grassy notes.

More one-dimensional on the palate than my last bottle; not bad by any means, but it does leave you looking for a little more. I know Robin is relatively new to doing his own bottlings, and my impression is that he is a little more advanced in his craft with Syrah than this grape.

  • 2014 Gérard Boulay Sancerre Rosé

Pale salmon color; hints of blood orange on the slightly reticent nose of this popped & poured wine.

"Cool" and crisp on the palate. My first look at the current vintage, and while this is always a mandatory case purchase for me in the Spring, the wine comes across as slightly dilute with this first glass. I'm planning on pairing this up with some grilled arctic char in about an hour or so, so we'll see if it opens up with food.

  • 2014 Collestefano Verdicchio di Matelica

Light yellow-green in the glass; nice briny note on the nose reminiscent of a Muscadet or Chablis.

Pronounced acidity - it's okay by me, but some tasters could find this too acidic. Lively, with nice persistence. This is my first look at this vintage - very good, and excellent QPR - with the summer approaching, the kind of wine that probably should be a case buy as a starter white when you're grilling for company outside on the deck.
