Light notes of strawberry jam with remaining tartness, acidity. Muted aroma; seems definitely at end-of-life; glad I caught it in time and pulled it out of storage. Great use of Cellar Tracker: I sorted on bottles at end of their range, and wow, I need to really get busy!
At long last I get to open this: sour cherry and deep cedar notes, took many hours to open up; back end rounded and soft; can't see how this could improve; bring remaining bottles out of storage this year
I echo Mr. dsruban's previous comment: "Red fruit, mouth-watering acidity, smooth tannins, well-integrated oak, long finish, this is a killer Rioja. Tannins softened after a few hours of decanting. Drinking beautifully now," I could not come up with a better description; the key with this wine is to let it air for 4-5 hours BEFORE you start your serious consideration.
