Double decanted two hours before service; the fill was base neck and the cork was sound. Surprisingly youthful appearance, with a hint of bricking at the rim. Notes of dried dark fruits, cigar box, roasted fennel, and forest floor; very savory character. Outstanding balance, with excellent focus and grip, fully integrated tannins, and a long and well delineated finish. I’d say this beauty still has another 10+ years at full maturity.

Notes of brioche, ripe white fruits, and crushed stones. Good structure, round on the mid palate, with nice acidity that provides excellent delineation on the finish.

The fill was top shoulder, and the cork was saturated all the way to the top, but sound. Double decanted two hours before dinner. Deep garnet with some bricking at the rim. Outgoing aromatics, with notes of brambly black fruits, barnyard, forest floor, black truffle and cigar box. Medium bodied, with a surprisingly velvety texture, good depth, and a long and focused finish. A bit rustic compared to modern Bordeaux. I can’t imagine this will improve, but I expect this bottle would hold at peak maturity for at least another five years in a cold cellar.
