A nose of cracked pebber and violets. Lovely dark-fruited palate, alive and kicking, spices and smoked meat. Good level of acidity, this is is fresh. With BBQed meats, new potatoes and a green salad on a hot summer day at home. Fun and joyful wine.
Took a good hour to open up in a decanter to a really nice, genuine Chateauneuf du Pape with a display of Grenache and tertiary flavors. The fruit is just a tad ripe but the wine is not heady nor hot. Good bottle.
