I aired it 2 hours drank it after 5 hours - this wine is still hiding after a wall of tannins. The fruit is somehow there but can’t get through. Could be a nice wine - I will try again not before 2012.

After only some 30 min air in the decanter it opened up and stayed with us the whole evening. A mineral nose and a very, very dense mouthful of fruits with multi layers of all kinds of fat berries and an ultra long finish. Only downturn is this very strong (after) anise finish (why has nobody picked that up before?). And because I don’t like anise it is for me just a 90 point wine - otherwise a great complex ready to drink claret!

This wine is very ready to drink and i am happy that i opened it two months ago ! This is an absolute fantastic NZ wine we got directly from this great to visit vineyard. It has all you seek in a Syrah, the species, multi layers of fruits and the finish stays with you an evening long. If you find this wine in good condition, buy it - enjoy it. Difficult to find better NZ Syrah.
