Fresh color and fresh on the palate. All of the oak treatment seems to be resolving and this wine is delivering all of the chianti goods. Red and black fruits, earth so clean that Greenblanket would like to take a nap on it and finely expressed acidity and tannin. Lovely right now and should continue to improve.

Greenblanket has always said that he doesn't like Brunellos and his first taste of this wine seemed to confirm his opinion - it was California big with some serious gum sucking tannin. But that big fruit was all about lovely complexity and spice inflection. Greenblanket may still note care for Brunello but this is a seriously delicious and interesting wine.

What a great example of the relatively unknown joys and diversity of Italian white wines. This featured a fresh and assertive attack of acidity, mineral and crazy green herbs. Greenblanket knows that all of that sounds extreme but somehow it isn’t and the energy and brightness and bitterness just kept inviting him back for another sip. Things get even better with food. The wine loved the fresh tomatoes, arugula and especially the salsa verde served with our tagliata but not so much the ribeye.

6/10/2016 2:12:00 AM - I stumbled upon your tasting note regarding the '75 Latour á Pomerol while sitting in my rented limestone farmhouse in St. Emilion. I'm a fan of pomerols but what I'm most curious about is the science closet dinners. Do you keep lists of wines from past events? If so, would you mind sharing some as an example? I think the science closet dinners are an excellent idea and I'll bet they're very informative and undoubtably a lot of fun!
Thanks in advance and I'm off to find the bottle to pop for our last evening here.
