Took a while to open up. A little off balance with the tannins a bit on the strong side. Once it opened it up there were some nice cherry/berry flavors peeking out. I know Margauz wines tend to be "feminine" but this one was more muted. May need 3-5 years. Had a younger much less exepnsive Cotes de Blaye afterwards that was better.

This was the anti-chardonnay chardonnay. More in the French style. Subtle, with just enough fruit to give it some life. (Though maybe just a tad bit more fruit wouldn't have hurt.) Not overly oaked. Good acid. Good food wine. If most California chardonnays are the wine equivalent of a Hummer, then this one was more of a Jaguar.

Light bodied but sharp on the pallet; vegetable and tinny. Not very complex; muted berry flavors.
