Had the Bien Nacido over back to back nights with dinner. The second night the edges had softened and it paired up "very well" with pork chops; even during the second night this wine had more density, strength and boldness that most Pinot's do not possess-impressive-!-In fact, the (aeromatic) dark cherry nose was about the only hint that it was a Pinot and not a Syrah. Enjoyable sage & spicy notes with a hint of vanilla & dusty caramel. I think I'll not open my other bottle for a couple more years as it appears this Bien Nacido can easily evolve for 2-3 years.

Admittedly, I am a fan of Ramey single vineyard Chardonnays, and this 2012 Woolsey Road was absolutely "lights out" wonderful tonight; pared and matched perfectly with a chicken picata with capers. Yellow gold in color, with vanilla, smokey pear and a hint of peach on the nose. Striking depth throughout, with full complexity and length. A touch of iodine and mineralilty helped add to the full complexity of this marvelous Ramey Chard.

Paired tonight with Veal and was very nice after decanting for about 45 minutes. The nose was somewhat "slight", however, much to my delight, the ripe red berry and cherry flavors came through in a light jammy context that was perfect with the meal. Slight, but well balanced nuisances of caramel and clove. Very well balanced and a nice effort for this 09 vintage.
