Good, but weakest of all the Greer's I've had to date. Red fruits on nose, carries through to the palate with some dustiness (which I love in Greer). Color is a deep crimson, no fading at all at 10 years old. Medium body, short finish. 3 hour decant, didn't improve over time. Again, a good wine, but maybe the difficult vintage is apparent here.

Double decant for 6 hours. Beautiful nose of bacon and dark fruits which carries through to palate. Silky smooth tannins. A big wine, but never heavy. Excellent.
Last pour about 12 hours after opening: a streak of salinity has snuck into the palate, fruit has faded just a little bit.

Medium straw color. Nose does not give up much beyond of honey. Palate is beeswax, lemon curd, and tropical fruits (but not sweet). Mouthfeel is round, but not at all heavy. Good acidity. A very elegant wine.

12/10/2013 7:27:00 AM - Hi wineotim, my comment is based on my experience with the Reserve bottling broadly across vintages, which tends to have much more elegance and none of the "greenness" I tasted in the Oakville. I have not tasted the 2010 Reserve yet, as I feel the drinking window on the Reserves tend to open 4-5 years after vintage date. The 2009's at this point still have not opened to the true expression of the Reserve. Nevertheless, the Reserve is a wine that consistently impresses and deserves its rank in the elite.
