This is my first Madeira, so I am somewhat neutral with my rating. Ok the nose, there is caramel, roasted pecans, raisins, and cognac. There is a mushroom fat note that I get in oxidised and orange wines. Perhaps soy sauce. On the palate it’s very very high in acidity with a lot of sugar and alcohol of course. Full bodied. There are raisins, cognac, again and maybe some dried oranges. Coffee. Pretty long finish of lemon juice with burnt sugar and alcohol burn. 9/18 and to be honest I expected more. I almost wish the acidity was lower and the wine was more coating.

Wonderful stuff. Sweet for sure, but not an insane amount of residual sugar, and a huge amount of fresh and lively acidity. Really luscious and attractive. In spite of many other tasting notes attesting to how long this wine will keep after being opened, the contents of this bottle were drained quickly by an enthusiastic crowd.

Just a touch of a bit of a green funk to it. Still fun and tasty. A touch bitter on the back. Not much depth. THis particular bottle has been open for six years.

Walnut and apricot. Rich and layered. The last sips of a bottle opened 3+ years ago and kept in the fridge between sips. Terrific value.
