2012 Napa Cabs ("reasonably priced"), 68 Madeira (Our Home): This was allowed to air for about an hour. It needs more time. The nose has orange slices, chocolate orange candy, slight raisins and a bit of toffee. Gorgeous. On the palate, this is very smooth. Citrus and chocolate. Nice acidity. Slightly sweet. Long finish. A great "young" Madeira.
Bottled this year. A lighter color than I was expecting, but then I don't have much experience with these. Nose of creme brulee, butterscotch/salted caramel, orange peel, commanding on the palate with a long mouthwatering finish. Longgg life ahead.
Bottled 2011. Very intense and concentrated, candied fruit and oak, great Bual typicity, Christmas pudding and vanilla, tangy acidity, peach, caramel, great length. At the Oxford & Cambridge Club, Pall Mall, London, UK.
