Plums, sweet dried raisins, ink, spice. This was very smooth and drinking nicely now, but it didn't have super intense flavors or that long of an aftertaste. The style remains very similar to the 1996 and 2016.

Opened an hour and a half before dinner which was a chicken dish from a keto cookbook. The nose was fruit leading to a palate of plums, dark cherry, tobacco, some dried herbs and dried leaves. The finish was a little tannic and accentuated the leaves and herbs. It did pair well with the dinner.

Tasting three vintages of Château Troplong Mondot: Tasting sample provided by a wine retailer. A blend of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. 14% ABV. Dark garnet colour. Dark, lightly raisiny fruit, plum, fig, some chocolate, tobacco, and spice cake note, with medium-level acidity, high, fine tannin, and very good length. Average complexity but good concentration. The alcohol is very lightly warming. The exceptional length stands out. The fruit is starting to become raisiny and tertiary, but the tanning is still youthful, raising concerns if the tannin will outlive the fruit. I would drink now, paired with a rib-eye steak.

Griffig und frisch. Leicht belegte Frucht, trotz nur 14% vol. etwas alkoholisch. Hält lange an.
Für mich nicht ganz ausgewogen.
