First impression is of gravel, then Lovely honeyed acacia nose and finally a steely acidity. Soft and subtle yet huge persistence on the finish. Judging by the 96, which didn't fully open up for 15 years, this will continue to improve.
There was some mineral reduction, a touch of aniseed and something tropical yet restrained on the nose. The palate was dense and chalky with steely line. It is a wine that is so direct and precise and the finish is laden with dry extract. A superb bottle.
