This was a little rough right out of the bottle, but improved quite a bit after 45 minutes in the glass. Nice big cab with a fair amount of structure left, I'd guess this will still improve a bit over the next 2-3 years. Style is a bit old world, definitely not a napa fruit bomb.
Still fairly young appearing. Beautiful fruit with secondary flavors of cigar, and hint of mint and mineral. Medium to long finish. An excellent wine for the vintage. Would give a short term decant as this got better with some air.
Purchased upon release and cellared in pristine fashion, this Napa Valley stalwart is holding up well. The robe is deep ruby/red and the nose shows dense plum, kirsch, tar and floral aromas. The full-bodied, round palate has medium sweet tannins and the alcohol (listed as 13.8%) is seamless. The flavors are ripe and dense, with a frame of black fruit and supporting cast of ganache and spice. The middle palate is solid and the smooth finish is medium-to-long. While this wine does not have the structure of its better-vintage brethren, it is still very impressive. Drink now-12/23.
