  The color is very very dark.. almost looks a bit like Syrah. Very fresh, vibrant, and deep aromas. Brightly complected red fruits (strawberries and cranberries); intense, vibrant, and thick. Maybe some black raspberries as well, soil, graphite, and charcoal. Smells very nice; exuberant, and young. Palate is very softly textured, with nice acidity and quartz minerality, but really not much fruit flavors. It's more about the texture and slightly intense experience than it is particular flavors. Thick body, but pretty lean flavor profile. Very soft, nice acid. The finish erupts a bit with vibrancy and bright acid. Good cranberry flavor. Thick texture here too, and I expect dried fruit flavors, but it's all fairly high toned, like bitter raspberries with tons of seeds or cranberries. Definitely more acidic than it is tannic. The palate is a little mellow and quiet, but the finish then erupts. I do believe this is drinking at peak, despite a lack of any tertiary development (no mushrooms). It may be interesting to check in with this at 8-9 years to see that tertiary development, but at the same time, since the fruit is so vibrant and integrated it's so yummy today and I see no reason to wait.

On the palate, very dense and extracted, with smoke, oak and earth dominating the fruit again. Most disappointing was a pronounced dill/bell pepper streak of flavor from the attack carrying almost through to the finish, really detracting from a bottle that seems to have a ton of structure and raw material. This flavor was not at all corky, nor was it that sort of green berry, stemmy, or underripe note one sometimes gets. Overall, the oak, smoke and dill just stomped all over whatever fruit might be in this. With two bottles left, I wonder if this will ever come into balance.
