Full body, ruby with some garnet highlights, after 1 hour a very mellow and pleasurable tannin and stronger freshness than sapidity. Balanced. Taste is not particularly lengthy in mouth. Nose: prune, violet, maybe thyme, light tobacco, smoked bacon, maybe nutmeg, hint of wood, at a point soy sauce. Ends there with a last tannin memory.

Popped and poured. This is a lighter red or garnet wine, with some light sediment and some moderate caking at the side of the bottle. On the nose, I get cherry, violet, wet soil, and cedar plank – this all opens up nicely over time. In the mouth, this is mid-weight and shows red and black fruits, which fold into a chewy, somewhat grapey finish. Overall, I thought this was a quality, old-school claret. Another enjoyable March 8 MsE. 90 points.

A Margaux at Margaux's Table (Margaux's Table, White Bear Lake, MN): Very dark red color. Decanted for 30 minutes; drank a small glass over an hour. This pretty much got pancaked by the '00 SHL and the '96 Margaux as one would expect. It came off pretty young and fairly tight on the nose; with bigger dark fruit, more oak, spices, mineral, a little rustic, with some grip and bite on the back end.

My #2 and the group #2. Guessed incorrectly as Brane-Cantenac.
