    This has developed very well since the last time I had it, moving away from what was once a fairly monolithic wine to show nice delineation. There are now some mature qualities complementing the dark fruit on the nose, and the palate has relaxed to show fresh cherry fruit and a creamy textured, medium-plus bodied wine. There is good supporting acidity, without poking out through the abundant fruit, and some firm, slightly rustic tannins make their appearance on the back end. This has the stuffing to age for quite a while longer before it comes close to peak, and time should see it further unfurl and develop even more character.

    Dissappointing. Somewhat bitter. Virtually no fruit. Not much air time, but it did not seem to improve from first sip to last.

    Subtle and elegant. Followed a very nice Williams Selyem and this screamed "I'm French!". Dark fruits that were not pronouncedly cherry. Earthy, with a full, round taste you could just leave in your mouth and enjoy.

    Having been let down by a few Vosne Romanees in the past I approached this cautiously- I suppose the lack of anticipation made it all the more enjoyable. I found this a lot more fleshy and less earthy than previous examples tasted (eg Moillard Les Malconsorts), the rich streak of minerality more than matched by extremely supple, complex fruit. Good weight and ripe tannins - the sheer elegance and poise cannot be underestimated. A really savoury, delicious glass - wine defined! I had heard all the fuss about Vosne Romanee for ages and I just couldn't get it. Until I tried this...

    Sappy, layered, spiced black cherry with earthy minerality on the nose. Impressively concentrated mouthfeel with the depth of fruit anchored by a very pretty and firm tannic structure. Longish finish beginning to show some secondary complexities. Drinking very well now, but probably opened about 3 years too early for full realization of its potential.

    (Potel Nicolas Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts) I think that the majority of my previous Beaux-Monts have failed to inspire - this one managed to avoid that fate by some margin. Medium-plus cherry-red colour. A lovely nose that combines Vosne-spice with a dense base of ripe red fruit that slowly takes on a higher-toned aspect - still quite primary - but does develop a more caramel aspect with time. The style is that of a middle-weight prize-fighter, taught, lean muscle with no extra pounds. Quite fresh and intense, excellent acidity and well hidden tannins. Doesn't quite show the intensity of finish of the Drouhin and Jadot wines but matches their ultimate length. A young and very interesting thoroughbred that my tasting partners rated even higher than me!
