(Philip Shaw Pinot Noir 08) Ripe nose of dark cherries, raspberry, leather, and plum skin, with toasty vanilla from at least a bit of new French oak. As with a young Burgundy, the palate is a bit more reticent and much less ripe, tending more toward cranberry and green cherries. Moderately long finish. Needs time, maybe three to five years, to open up. 13.8% alcohol. Chilling Out Down Under

Dried strawberry, cloves, mushrooms on the nose. Tart strawberries, pomegranate, earth, mushroom and forest floor on the palate.

Earthy. Fruit seemed muted. Disappointed.

Stalky nose and palate. Lacks fruit and depth.
