Old German Riesling et al. (Chicago, IL): #04-77, 10% abv. This still impresses me how fresh and youthful it's showing. I'm super lucky that this bottle (and my previous one) came from spectacular provenance. This has held up incredibly well, and is really, in my mind, the pinnacle of Kabinett. It's a light touch, but there's so much freshness that this evokes a sunny summer day. And the fruit -- the fruit! It's still there, nestled between the minerals and acidity. There's just a slight hint of sweetness left here too. It was my last bottle, but it was thoroughly enjoyed.

Had only a sip that remained in a bottle after being open a day, but it still had a freshness and acidity that fills me with hope as it speaks to the vitality of 42 year olds! Thank you Salil.

They don't make 'em like they used to (New York City, NY): #04-77, 10% abv. Wow. The archetype of Kabinett. You ask yourself, what would you expect from a properly stored bottle of old Kabinett, and this is exactly what you think of. Incredible power and density, despite the "lower" tier of this wine. White fruit, apples, honey, petrol, lovely acidity, and a surprising rich sweetness. A spot-on bottle, and absolutely brilliant. Now if I could just cellar my Kabinetts for 40 years...

Very gentle on the nose - delicate and beautiful, but it's almost a scale model of a wine. Spice, apple and great petrol. Light and pure on the palate with lemon and apple, spice and excellent acid - really ethereal and pure. Lemon, apple and spice finish. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5-5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17-17.5/20.

Excessibe Rhone and Riesling night (St. Marks Place Grand Sich, NY): Between this and the '75 WS Kabinett I opened a few months ago, I'm convinced I need to be a lot more patient with my Prüm Kabinetts. This is beautiful; remarkably light and ethereal on the palate with green apple and citrus flavours that are still quite fresh, accented by an array of more mature creamy, savoury, and herbal flavours. Comes across barely off dry with the slightest hint of sweetness, perhaps a touch short on the back end compared to the '75, but a really remarkable wine. Thanks Adrian.
