Champoux Tasting (83 1/2 Restaurant, 345 E. 83rd Street, NY, NY 10028): The third bottle of this vintage that I have tried. The first (before I was on CT) didn't show well. The 2nd and now this one showed very well. More finesse than power, I'm not sure how much longer this has left. I have two bottles left, and plan on finishing them both within 12 months.
Decanted, drank over about 3 hrs. This wasn't much like others described, so maybe the bottle was off. On the nose this was fairy muted with red fruits tending toward the bright end of the spectrum...almost like it had already thrown off its fruit. On the palate this seemed a bit disjointed and not as smooth as other Fidelitas wines I've had recently (even from the 2008 vintage)...it tended toward the acidic with the heat very present. Definitely some tannin on the finish.

(Fidelitas Cabernet Sauvignon Champoux Vineyard Horse Heaven Hills) A compelling, complex wine with char, toast, earth, high toned herbal notes, and an under layer of black cherry. The palate has winding black fruit flavors with herbal accents. The tannins are supple and perfectly integrated. An absolutely beautiful wine worth seeking out. Give two-plus years.
