Community Tasting Notes (4) Median Score: 90 points

  • I probably should have given this wine a 100 point score, since I believe it was consumed tonight at the absolute peak of it's flavor profile. Packed with dense black currant and warm cedar notes, lovely spice and silky lingering palate flavors, a wine at it's perfect drinking moment. So sorry I only had this last bottle to savor at this time.

  • Still very much alive and much more charming than when last tasted a few years ago. Dark berry fruit, tobacco and a nice texture with a lingering finish made this a pleasure to drink. Like most Cal-Cabs, a touch of sweetness on the finish.

  • Full, rich mature Cabernet. Oak is integrated and palate is savory and dry. Drink in the near term.

  • Unfortunately, every wine on the table was trumped by the '96 Lynch-Bages, but this wine, though very California in style, showed nicely, with restrained and integrated oak, juicy blackberry and currant with hints of tobacco and herbs. Glad I have more to try over the next several years. Held up well after several days open and developed more interesting flavors.
