  • Drank this wine as we finished off the IPNC/Oregon scrapbook product. It was certainly a nice way to finish this project, even though this Pinot hails from the Sonoma Valley. The Durell Vineyard is well known and regarded and probably accounts for the steeper price of this product. This was a smooth elegant and well-balanced bottle of wine. It was similar to the bottle of Taz Pinot Noir ingested this same evening. (see Taz notes) If I am a bit less than enthusiastic in my assessment it is only due to the price difference between these bottles which were tasted next to each other on the same evening. The Sand Hill may have had a better and longer lasting finish but they were certainly similar in silky mouthfeel, medium weight and excellent balance. I would like to try this wine again to be able to more accurately judge it on its own merits.
