  • Felt a little tired on first popping cork, but letting the wine have a little air in the glass over a half hour or so really let it come back to life. a good tasty representation of aged Burg... not mind blowing but enjoyable. well worth the <$50 I paid!

Day 2 it had fallen off again a bit, but still very drinkable.

  • Full garnet with clear rim, floral notes with classic Pinot character and hints of torrefaction. Conflicting notes of fresh vs tired, yet excellent palate feel and density/viscosity. While I love many of the ‘03s, this one gives me pause as there’s no telling how this will evolve further.

  • No rim, no bricking. Garnet red. A bit muted, this needs air. The palate doesn't seem fully developed to me. Tannins are still rough around the edges. The flavors however are already tertiary. Iron, game, blood. I think this will come around within a year or two with good storage. Dusty, mid-length finish.

  • With browning on the rim, high quality balsamic vinegar flavor takes the lead over other components such as cooked cherries, thanksgiving turkey, rusty nails, and roasted herbs. While this tastes aged, it still has some structure left, and it feels fairly full in the mouth. The level of complexity here is dazzling, and the balance is outstanding. I’m not sure if this would benefit from further aging though, and I am glad that I opened this bottle. 13% alc.

  • Really elegant and delicious wine. Wonderfully balanced from nose to finish, nice acidity, some really captivating floral notes on the nose, and just elegant soft red fruit on the palate.
