This is an amazing wine, partly because it is so good, and partly because it was made during WW II, with the blue wartime glass to prove it. Despite the Burghound review, which I believe his score is ludicrously low, this bottle was as good as my previous bottle had some time ago in NYC. The color is light, but the wine is amazing.

There is nothing quite like the wine from the World War II period. Blue glass, no sulfur or many winemaking elements available because of the depravations of war. Yet, so many brilliant wines! This was no exception. Its appearance is light in color – but that should not fool anyone because this had astounding intensity on the nose, earthy and the definition of class and grace. The bottle was in perfect condition, and the palate had sweetness and silkiness all over it. A wonderful experience.

Flickinger "Significant Cellar" Tasting (Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Very good fill. Very clean and elegant start with classically Vosne spice still standing out along with some black tea. Wonderful reduced mushroom flavors along with good spice. Very precise with good length. Fantastic alongside the DRC 1941 GE.

From a small taste at Flickinger's warehouse tasting. Mostly earth and mushroom with some delicate, subtle fruit still present in the background. The mouthfeel was silky and elegant. This was an extraordinary bottle of wine, but dare I say, I expected more. I wish I had had a whole bottle and a quiet Sunday afternoon to experience it properly.

"A Significant Cellar" tasting at Flickinger (Chicago, IL): Coffee notes on the nose. Very earthy, and in a very good spot right now. Satiny texture on the palate and still holds some fruit notes. Sublime.
