Cork broke but bottle good, lovely whiff of dried roses & cherries, medium bodied with soft caressing tannins, a very mellow Burg that is at its peak, opened an hour before drinking, offering lots of pleasure

Alongside the 2002. This took 5-10 minutes to fully come together, but quickly harmonized into a real charmer. Rich and fleshy black cherry and berry throughout, this shows subtle structure, but lots of dry extract keeping it easily vibrant. Very tasty now through the next decade.

Late night impromptu at Maison Dakota with east side folks. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour with garnet rim. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of dark red cherries, background integrated toast oak, fine floral spice. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), rounded soft medium tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet dark red cherries, ripe strawberries, plumpness feels, smooth integrated toast oak, floral sweet spice. Medium+ extending to a long rounded finish. Very good quality. Feels very well-made. Still going strong and lovely drinking on day 2.

Soft and very fragrant with layered red fruit scents. Not heavy or hot, but more on the cool side. Wouldn’t have guessed a 2003; more like an ‘02 in its balance and openness. Tannins mostly resolving, but still present. Delicious.
