Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Bought at the Heron Hill Winery (Fingerlakes New York) in 2010. 2.5 years of cellaring rounded it out nicely. Nose is clean, crisp, with a touch of oak on the finish. This isn't their unoaked styling (they sell that too) but it's very different from a typical California Chardonnay in comparison. Very juicy fruit forward, tropical notes, bright clean grape. A bit of minerality with a balanced mid-palate, and a very round finish that lingers just long enough. It may sound like I'm describing a Sav Blanc or a Pinot Grigio but it's not akin to those. Definitely Chardonnay, just brighter, and of a different style. Not buttery. Almost has a late harvest quality in the front palate. Drink now!
