  • Deep red with high optical density. The nose is somewhat closed, with not a lot of intensity, but still expressive, with strawberries, damp earth, and some light spice. Much more open on the palate, with full body, refreshing acidity, and a nice tannin structure. Flavours of red and black berries hit on the attack, with stewed prunes filling in the mid-palate, but not a lot of intensity or complexity here. The finish shows damp earth, black tea, and dried leaf notes, with the alcohol readily apparent, and the heat persisting for quite some time. A decent, fairly easy-drinking full bodied wine, but the alcohol is quite out of balance, and there is not a lot of intensity or complexity here. Solid, just not exciting.
