Jean Grivot is always one of my favs. This bottle has a brownish purple color and quite surprisingly to me it lacks the instant floral sensation like his other bottle such as sux burlees or les beauxmonts. This has more of a meaty and dark fruits taste which is ok if this is what one prefers

Brownish red, seemed to have some age. Nose was pretty mature, quite meaty and savoury, with plums, raisins and a touch of Indian spice. Palate was decent, with tannins all resolved but just a little rough on the edges. Sour cherries, plums, prunes and old leather, with some black pepper meats and some green-ness at the mid and back palate. Lacked freshness, and had a pretty short finish.

Cote de Nuits Tasting - Dujac -v- Grivot (Mercer Hotel, Dublin): A more mature hue this time, and looking slightly light (as distinct from oily/viscous) in texture. Looks more than one year older than its 2001 predecessor. Quite an open, fruity nose, even slightly sweet: this is in a lighter style than the 2001 and is more approachable now but lacks the concentration. Quite savoury on the palate (in contrast to the sweet nose!) - lower acidity than the 2001 but again this makes it easier to drink at this point. Good, and fully ready.
